God with Us

Divine Service

Divine Service

Our most important activity each week is gathering for the Divine Service on Sunday mornings. This is the time that we together receive God’s gifts and respond with prayer and thanksgiving.

Why is this so important?

Many people think it is enough to contemplate God on their own. Why do they need to go to church? It is certainly true that people can learn about God by studying the Bible on their own. But what if they misunderstand something? What if they ignore parts of the Bible that God wants them to know? And who will be there for them when they are hurting or in need? This is why it is good for us to gather together, and why God encourages it.

Christianity 101

Christianity 101

If you want to learn more about our teachings and our worship, the Christianity 101 Class is a good place to start. This class is for

  • anyone who wants to know what makes Lutherans different than others.
  • people who have little or no background in Christianity.
  • lifelong Christians who want a refresher course.

Through this class, participants will gain a working knowledge of the Bible, including its history and accounts and how they fit together. They will especially learn what Jesus has done to save all sinners through His perfect life, death, and resurrection.

What does it cost?

Christianity 101 does not cost anything – all materials are provided. Class participants meet one evening a week for about fifteen weeks. That may sound like a long time, but it’s worth it! Please contact Pastor if you are interested, and feel free to bring a friend.

Youth Education

Youth Education

Christian education is important to us, including the education of the youth. Saude offers a Sunday School program, and Jerico holds Wednesday School classes. Our pastor also leads a Catechism Class for junior high and high school youth, which culminates in Confirmation. Please access our calendar for a full schedule of these classes.

Other Activities

Ladies Aid

Ladies Aid

Both congregations have active Ladies Aid groups. The ladies meet monthly for Bible Study and to discuss service opportunities and projects in the church. They serve at funeral dinners and other special events. They also support various mission efforts and charitable causes. Our congregations are grateful for the hard work and humble service of the women who have participated in Ladies Aid through the years.

Ladies Aid History

A Ladies Aid was first formed in January of 1889 at the parsonage of the Rev. and Mrs. Moses. This group conducted meetings in Norwegian until 1918.

Another Ladies Aid formed at Crane Creek on Oct. 18, 1905, at the home of Mrs. Nils Anderson. English was not used at these meetings until 1924.

Men's Club

Men's Club

The Men’s Club includes members from Jerico and Saude. The men meet each month for Bible Study and fellowship. They donate toward youth activities and scholarships for our synod’s Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary in Mankato, MN. They also serve the Easter Breakfast each spring.
Lutheran Youth Society

Lutheran Youth Society

All confirmed members of our congregations are invited to take part in youth activities throughout the year. Besides events hosted at our congregations, they also enjoy fellowship with other Lutheran youth in our circuit. In the summertime, our youth have the opportunity to attend Honor Choir at Bethany Lutheran College, Camp Indianhead in Minnesota, and the Lutheran Youth Association Convention, which is held at different locations each year.
Community Action

Community Action

Participation in our communities is important to us, whether it be caroling at area nursing homes each Christmas season, donating to local food pantries, or taking part in some other special project. We are also pleased to support military veterans through the avenue of flags around each of our cemeteries. Flags are displayed every Memorial Day and at the funerals of veterans.
